ICANN Root Zone Signing Key - First Ever Update

Recommended Posts

The primary pair of cryptographic keys used in the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) protocol, known as the Root Zone KSK, will soon be updated (PDF). One in four Internet users, 750 million people, could be affected by the KSK rollover, scheduled for 11th July 2017.

The cryptographic key pair is crucial to the way the Internet works but it has never been updated since it was originally created in 2010. The key length will also be increased from 1024 bits to 2048 bits.
